About us

We are the Forest Dynamics Lab in the School of Ecosystem and Forest Sciences at the University of Melbourne. Our focus is on understanding how native forests develop, how they respond to disturbances and climate, and how this knowledge can inform better forest management. We work in a wide range of forest ecosystems–from eucalypt woodlands and cool temperate rainforests in Australia to tropical forests in Southeast Asia. Our research combines a deep understanding of the natural history of the forests with rigorous quantitative analyses to address a diverse set of questions.
